Lead Us to Pentecost

The Assemblies of God World Prayer Center is preparing to launch a new national prayer initiative. Similar to America Prays 250, we will once again mobilize the church to pray, primarily focusing on a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the church and the United States of America. Lead Us to Pentecost will take place in May of 2027 during the weekend of Pentecost—a time to reflect on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, when the apostles were filled with the Spirit and the birth of the early church came to fruition.

Lead Us to Pentecost has a wider frame and mission. We will mobilize the church for another much-needed moment of unified prayer at 9:00 a.m. in each time zone, praying for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit—but we will not end there. Following this time of intercession, we will train and equip believers to rise from the altar, stand to their feet, and step into the fields that are white unto harvest, confident to not only share the love of Christ but move in the power of the Holy Spirit.

In Acts, the apostles did not just communicate the gospel; they demonstrated it. They operated in the power of the Spirit with miracles, signs, wonders, and a prophetic anointing. The founders of the church did not receive a senior Holy Spirit and this generation a junior Holy Spirit. Upon Spirit baptism, we are filled with the same Spirit and power of the disciples that walked with Jesus. This is a moment where prayer and evangelism unite for a display of the power of Jesus for the world to see in the name of Jesus Christ.

In preparation for this moment, we are creating a ten-day devotional entitled Lead Us to Pentecost for churches to resource in home family devotions, personal study, small group discussion, and however local church leadership deems it would best serve their congregation. This resource will help believers prepare for a fresh outpouring on Pentecost weekend.

Additionally, we are developing a four-week sermon series for pastors to use, if they choose, leading up to Pentecost weekend. This series is designed to help the local church understand the person of the Holy Spirit, Spirit Baptism, speaking in tongues, and how to operate in the gifts of the Spirit, preparing churches and believers to experience Pentecost in a powerful manner.
